After high school I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was granted the opportunity to travel the world, experience different cultures, and of course deploy to Iraq. My time in Iraq was definitely a life altering experience for the better. In the midst of everything going on in that region and a matter of fact, in the world, I became a Christian repenting of my sins and being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of my sins in the Euphrates River. It was an incredible experience that involved M16’s and 240G’s for security and AK47’s ringing out bullets in the distance.
Christian is a word that has lost so much meaning over time because so many people claim to be one, but fail to live up to or even attempt to live up to the standard of one. I was one of those people. However, during my time in Iraq something happened to change my life and desire. This was definitely a work in process experiencing pitfalls and stumbling blocks, but by the Grace of God I was able to press on. I do not claim to be perfect, but I do serve a perfect Lord & Savior who by His never failing love, enduring mercy, and longsuffering continues to give me the chance to grow in holiness.
Since that time God has blessed my life and continues to allow me to prosper. Is there really a recession going on? Beyond the material things which decay, rust, and fade, I thank God for all that I am and have because without Him I am nothing. I thank God for my beautiful wife, Courtney, and my sons, Steven Michael & Luke David.
